Duties of a Carpenter

Many of us don't know what exactly it is that a carpenter does. A carpenter comes with an image of nails, hammers, wood planks, and saws, doesn't he? All true, of course, but what after that? Let's consider that you hire a carpenter for your home, here's what a carpenter's duties will entail in the home scenario.
  • Laying the building foundation for the home.

Skills Requirements

  • He has to know the principles, techniques, and methods of carpentry trade.
  • He must handle and manage all the carpentry tasks independently.
  • He should be able to draw up, understand, and interpret blueprints and sketches.
  • He should know everything about the tools and equipment used, along with how to maintain and care for them.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of all the materials required and used in carpentry tasks and keep himself up-to-date with the new products.
  • He should have a cost estimate of all these materials as well.
  • He needs to be aware of the dangers and hazards that he can face on the field and the precautions that need to be taken.
  • He needs to be strong, because his duties entail him to lift and handle heavy materials and machinery.
Along with the years of experience, the range of the carpenter's salary will also be determined by the kind of industry he is working in. Carpenters working in the energy industry make more money than supervising carpenters or home carpenters.
