Part-time jobs definitely provide an alternative to the banal and cumbersome full-time jobs. Nowadays, there are many people who do not feel comfortable with the idea of a job. Part-time job provides a solution by giving an opportunity to work between 1 to 34 hours a week.
According to the International Labor Organization, the number of part-time workers, in most developed countries, has increased from one-fourth to a half in the past 20 years, excluding the United States. In 2007, 32.4 million Americans worked part-time, approximately two-thirds of whom were women.

Computer Lab Assistant (on-campus)

The on-campus computer lab assistants help students and faculty members, in using computer hardware and software, providing them with basic assistance with the problems faced in computer labs.
If required, they also keep track of students work and assignments and perform clerical duties as assigned. They conduct presentations on various software packages and maintain lab equipment by cleaning disk drives, monitors, keyboards, and scanning the hard drives for viruses.
The applicants for this job are generally required to have some knowledge of Microsoft Office products, various operating systems and hardware. However, some training is provided in the initial phase after joining. In the interviews, they are also judged by their ability to listen effectively and respond according to the user inquiries.

Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy technicians generally work in hospitals, health care facilities and retail pharmacies, and their major job is to help the pharmacists in preparing prescriptions for patients.
Besides the routine task of helping in the preparation of prescribed medicines, pharmacy technician may also be asked to perform some administrative duties, like answering phones, stocking shelves and operating cash registers.
The pharmacy technicians have some responsibilities like reading patients charts and preparing the appropriate medication.
Basic knowledge of pharmacy is a must, if one applies for this job.

Receptionists

Receptionists need to have a pleasing personality as their major duty includes greeting and assisting guests when they visit a business.Their job is dependent on the type of business, but generally they perform administrative tasks related to hospitality.
Receptionists may be asked to work in shifts, depending on the requirement. The person applying for a receptionist job should have excellent communication skills, be good at public administration and able to maintain her calm under adverse circumstances.

Dental Assistants

Dental assistants work closely under the supervision of dentists and help them by preparing equipment, taking X-rays and tending to patients.
They also sterilize and disinfect instruments, keep track of a patient's records, take and process dental x-rays, and lay out the instruments required for the treatment of patients.
During dental procedures, assistants work with the dentist and provide the required material or equipment. They are required to possess basic knowledge of dental care and the instruments related to it.

Fitness Trainers and Aerobics Instructors

Fitness trainers generally work at health and fitness centers and private gyms and their major job includes helping the clients to achieve their physical health goals.
People join fitness centers for purposes like losing weight, building muscle or conditioning for an event, and the fitness trainers or aerobic instructors help them by conducting group classes and a variety of aerobic courses at gyms.
It is a good paying part-time job and employers generally look for a fit person who possess good health and training skills.
