Interview!!... Well, it is your first and probably the last chance to create an impression and assure the potential employer about your reliability and expertise. The word interview itself makes many people afraid of the entire procedure, which in turn results in loss of confidence to face the interview. But have you ever thought why such a thing happens?
But have you ever thought why such a thing happens? No matter, you might be smart and qualified enough for the post, however, if you do not have any confidence, then your entire personality is just a showpiece, of no use!! The most common reason for confidence loss in many people is the lack of ability to answer the questions or a fear of facing the same.
It happens most of the time that an interviewee enters the room confidently with positive body language, but as soon as the interviewer starts bombarding questions, the interviewee turns blank and has no idea what to answer, and most importantly, how to answer the questions.
These questions aren't something special or something about which you do not know anything at all. These are very much related to yourself and your personality. The interviewee finds it difficult to answer! Just imagine such a situation, and guess what impression you would make if such a thing happens! Okay.. to avoid such a situation, here are some samples.

Personal Interview Round

Employers are very keen to know about your personality and your overall attitude towards life. Hence, personal interview round is significant from the employers as well as the employee's point of view. Here are some common questions asked during the personal interview round and the probable answers to it.

How do you describe yourself?

Most personal rounds start from this question and this itself is the most vulnerable point, where interviewees get nervous and answer something which would not please the employer or satisfy the purpose of asking the question. So generally, when answering such questions, you need not get nervous.
Start with a one line description of yourself (I'm not suggesting to recite it at home and then say it in the interview!!). Begin with a strong value, you believe in. Then move towards your positive traits. Do not reveal your negative points, unless asked by the employer, as you are there to make the best out of the interview.

What has been the biggest motivating strength of your life?

This could be anything! It could even be a hard-working ant or a very big personality, who has rose up from zero and won over life, or it may even be any of your life values! It is up to you to decide. Design your answers properly and convey it in a positive manner. Y
You can also say about your emotional dreams that motivate you to work hard and smart and achieve your goals. Eventually, ensure that the answer sounds sensible.

How do you deal with criticism?

Again, loads of positiveness! But take care that you do not sound too mechanical or dramatic. See that you also give it a human touch, by also showing that, yes you do feel bad when you are criticized, but the next moment you get charged up and take the criticism as a feedback of your work!

Work History Interview Round

Employers also look forward to your responses pertaining to the previous employer. Many people get too emotional and answer anything that comes to their mind. However, this shouldn't be the case!
However bad or good your experience was with your previous employers, you need to answers positively and sensibly! Following are the most important and commonly asked interview questions during the work history round.

How was your previous work experience?

Everyone has had some good and bad instances at work. But this doesn't mean you should criticize your previous employer. You should never say anything such!
This is because, the employer is not keen to know about your experiences as such, but he is curious on knowing your attitude towards the organization! So always answer that the experience was great, share some good moments, mention about one bad experience, but also tell, what you've learned from it?

What were the responsibilities you handled in your previous organization?

Certainly, explain everything, each and every responsibility, each and every system that you've handled. Do not miss out on anything! Also explain, how it benefited the organization? Give the work done 'beyond the call of duty', a mention in this answer.

What was your biggest achievement and failure?

The key over here is honesty! Answering honestly would actually make work easier for you. Biggest achievements are not only the rewards and recognition that you've earned in your tenure, but it also includes, the values and the morals you had learned while working in the company.
Such an answer would sound very much sensible. While answering your failure, do not directly point out any of your weakness, but explain your failure, which would neither complain about anyone and blame others, nor would it reveal any of your demerits!

Make-or-Break Questions

Apart from the above, some questions are really tough to answer and your presence of mind plays the most vital role in dealing with such questions! Mentioned below are a few tough questions and the technique of answering them.

Why do you want to join this organization?

A very short question, but requires a lot of intellectual and presence of mind to answer. The answer expected out of this question is generally a reason, that tells, why you've chosen this organization for employment? Specify the actual reasons, but that too in a passive way!
Mention about the organization's size and reputation, job security, career development and lastly the salary part. Remember, do not immediately start with,"because ABC company's employees are highly paid!!". If possible exclude the salary part, keep your answer confined to points mentioned before it.

Why should we recruit you?

Emphasize on the qualities you have, specify about the benefit to the organization from you. Some people answer with an attitude of," Because I'm a gift to mankind and so I'm like a gift to the organization!!!". This reflects an egoistic attitude! So such an attitude while answering is a complete NO NO! And one more thing... mention about smart work as well!

What is your lifetime goal?

Many people get over ambitious on such occasions and directly jump to their milestones! Of course, your lifetime goal is always a milestone. However, you need to answer starting from the lowest and reach the highest, deriving and justifying each and every goal in life!
I haven't given sample answers, but only guidelines, because, although the format and the principles of answering such as positiveness, sensibility, and assertiveness are fixed, the actual answers would definitely differ.
Therefore, you need to be completely yourself while answering these questions. Remember, anything said in a positive, assertive, and sensible manner, would always be 'your own' best answer. All the Best!
